Harlow North is the proposed expansion of the existing town of Harlow. The proposed plans are designed to connect the new with the old physically, socially and economically, so the town grows rather than divides.

A Living Bridge across the River Stort lined with shops, offices and apartments could form a key bond between new neighbourhoods and the existing town.

A wetland park in the River Stort floodplain would draw people together for recreation and allow the floodplain’s biodiversity to be conserved and enriched.

Harlow North: one place one town.

Better public transport networks and services would be provided. A high-quality bus service would begin as soon as the first house was built, with a bus stop within 300m of practically every residence and workplace.

Space Syntax computer diagrams showing how an integrated network of roads and dedicated bus lanes would increase the intensity of movement to and around Harlow (see the 'hot' red lines). These illustrate how the proposed design not only benefits the mixed use within Harlow North but also improves the potential for some of the 'no frontage' roads in the existing town. Overall vitality would increase and business for retail, leisure and cultural enterprises would be significantly uplifted.
